Position: Solar CAD Designer

Job Overview: This position will be accountable for CAD design and documentation of solar projects in Radiance Solar’s Operations department. The designer creates plan sets for all phases of construction including, but not limited to, permitting, construction, and as-builts. The designer also creates and delivers preliminary layouts and production analysis to the sales team and facilitates any changes based on the project needs. In addition, the designer communicates and coordinates with multiple engineering firms to produce stamped plan sets and studies.  

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate PV layout sizing design for ground-mount and roof-top projects
  • Estimate kWh production simulations using provided tools
  • Must communicate well with all internal and external agents
  • Design, document, and develop PV systems in AutoCAD for and with stakeholders, adhering to grid compliance and permitting requirements:
    • Preliminary Layouts

Requirements

  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD software
  • Solar PV experience preferred
  • In depth knowledge of drafting, CAD, layers, and model space/paper space management

Position: Solar O&M Electrical Apprentice

Job Overview: The O&M Electrical Apprentice will be responsible for basic electrical maintenance and troubleshooting support at solar facilities. Those facilities include, but are not limited to, ground mount, roof top, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects.

As a leading division of Radiance Solar, the O&M Department is responsible for hundreds of solar facilities located throughout the Southeast region. The electrical helper will learn about and support the operations and maintenance of these solar facilities by accompanying and assisting O&M technicians in the field to gain electrical experience in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of solar systems.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist O&M technicians with the replacement of solar inverters, remote monitoring/communications equipment, and other corrective and preventative maintenance
  • Desire to be trained by experienced O&M technicians with the goal of growing into an independently operating O&M technician
  • Desire to learn how solar and energy storage facilities are operated and maintained
  • Support the O&M technicians and front office by taking detailed notes and photos of services visits, corrective, and preventative maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical helper or apprentice with basic knowledge of power systems and electrical circuits
  • Strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and safety oriented!

Position: Solar O&M Technician

Job Overview: This position is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance of solar equipment (grid-tied PV and Data Acquisition Systems).  The technician will provide support to the Operations and Maintenance team, communicate job status, and ensure the completion and documentation of troubleshooting and maintenance activities.  The solar maintenance technician will support the construction team on a limited basis and participate in job-related training. The candidate must possess a strong solar electrical background and have prior experience with grid-tied inverters.  The candidate must also be able to work in a team, complete code compliant work, take on full responsibility for completed work and conduct safe working practices. 

Responsibilities

  • Travel to and from sites in the Southeast (overnight stays most weeknights, home on the weekends)
  • Troubleshooting/problem-solving solar components (central and string level inverters, DAS, etc)
  • Communication with customers is key to our success. Candidate will be expected to speak with customers onsite and will be working closely with office personnel and other members of the O&M team
  • Reporting – must be able to fill out daily work orders, document maintenance activities and complete checklists via spreadsheet, photography, and Work Order Management System
  • Support construction commissioning activities

Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout Georgia and surrounding states every week (overnight stays most weeknights, home on the weekends)

Position: Solar Electrician

Job Overview: Electrician will be responsible for electrical installation of solar plants.  Those facilities include, but are not limited to: ground mount, roof top, commercial, industrial, and utility grade projects. Electrician must be capable of running a crew of 5+ people and must have a thorough understanding of current NEC.  The ideal hire will add additional value by making recommendations to improve the design, construction, and maintenance of future projects.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Managing and execute electrical installations for solar projects (ground and roof mount; commercial/industrial and utility scale)
  • Prior solar experience preferred
  • Is a seasoned electrician
  • Has solar electrical power systems experience – min. 3 years
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance to the highest quality and safety standards
  • Can perform replacement/installation of hardware/racking, PV modules, inverters, monitoring equipment and any other component within the solar site
  • Has ability to read and comprehend electrical and mechanical schematics, technical manuals, procedures and regulations
  • Has knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and solar system components (e.g. central and string inverters, transformers, combiner and re-combiner boxes, switchgear, PV modules, data monitoring systems etc.
  • Has knowledge of and ability to perform IV Curve tracing, determine if an issue exists and repair
  • Direct experience with Solar Edge, SMA, central inverters, and Also Energy/PowerTrack is a plus
  • Has experience and proficiency with communications networking for monitoring systems (Modbus, Ethernet, basic networking setup and troubleshooting)
  • Able to adapt to new situations, pitch in where needed, and works well with minimal supervision
  • Can compile detailed inspection reports and communicate findings/recommendations succinctly to other team members
  • Attend preconstruction, turnover and safety meetings with the PM.
  • Layout and manage solar project installation sequence.

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience at performing rooftop electrical work, while providing excellent customer service to a wide range of customers.
  • Experience leading a crew is highly desired.
  • Basic understanding of solar PV installation, electrical wiring of AC/DC systems strongly preferred.
  • Able to read, interpret and execute blueprints, specs and electrical riser diagrams.
  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, repair/replace and install electrical items as required.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of NEC.
  • Manual dexterity and precision required (IE: standing for long periods of time on varying roof surfaces.)
