Designed and installed by Radiance Solar, the system at Perkins+Will’s Atlanta headquarters features 30 Suniva 240 watt solar panels with an SMA inverter and online monitor. The installation of the 7.2 kilowatt array is the latest addition in the architecture firm’s ongoing sustainable design initiative.

“Perkins+Will is also committed to exemplary workplace practices in our own business. Since the development of our Green Operations Plan in 2005, we have tracked and benchmarked our operational performance in terms of energy and water use as well as greenhouse gas emissions associated with travel and office operations. Every one of our offices that is renovated or constructed is designed to LEED Platinum standards and metered to monitor performance. As a carbon-neutral organization, we’re offsetting our carbon emissions and investing in renewable energy technologies”.

Radiance Solar designed the Perkins+Will photovoltaic system using high-efficiency solar modules manufactured by Georgia-based Suniva. The system features 30 Suniva panels and is expected to produce 9720 kWh per year, offsetting over 38,000 pounds of carbon dioxide each year or the equivalent of 2,000 gallons of gasoline. The production of clean energy will allow Perkins+Will to significantly reduce their energy-related operating expenses.  The solar system also features SMA inverters and monitoring, giving Perkins+Will and the community the ability to track solar power production in real-time via a dedicated web portal.

“We are extremely proud of the Perkins+Will solar installation in the heart of Midtown Atlanta,” says Radiance Solar CEO James Marlow. “Not only does it help Perkins+Will reduce their energy costs and bolster their sustainability portfolio, but it also provides visible evidence that solar works for private companies as a clean, viable and growing alternative to coal-energy in Georgia.”

About Perkins+Will:

At Perkins+Will, sustainable design is a result of a creative and collaborative process that involves all our disciplines.
